We have always longed for change, and regardless of what others would have us believe, we made that change happen in 2025.

#1: Target Boycott - After Target abandoned its DEI policies to side with Trump, we stopped shopping there, and Target has felt the pain. By September 2025, Target had lost an estimated $20 billion in shareholder value and a 33% drop in stock price.

#2: Advancing Literacy - Misinformation is poison, and this year, we made huge efforts to stop it. In August, the National Association of Black Bookstores was founded to support Black-owned bookstores and promote literacy. In September, Solange Knowles launched the Saint Heron Community Library, an archive of rare materials by Black and brown authors.

#3: Demanding Reparations - This dream is now closer to becoming a reality. In June, Tulsa’s first Black mayor, Monroe Nichols, unveiled a $105 million reparations package for survivors and descendants of the Tulsa Race Massacre. In October, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill to study reparations for the state’s Black residents.

In 2026, we must keep our eyes on the prize and strive to be the change we want to see. What’s the change you’re ready to be?

We have a quick favor to ask:

  • We fight for CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM to protect our community.
  • We run VOTING CAMPAIGNS that reach over 10 million African-Americans across the country.

And as a nonprofit, we rely on small donations from subscribers like you.
