Let’s jam into the new year by revisiting some of the top songs released by Black artists in 2025.
#1: Baby (Is It A Crime), by Rema (February) - Rema’s not a household name (yet), but you’ve definitely heard his music. Sampling Sade’s iconic “Is It A Crime,” Rema’s Afropop hit’s been heard all over the airwaves and TikTok.
#2: Anxiety, by Doechii (March)- Doechii has been on fire this year, so much so, that Anxiety was originally released in 2019, but re-released this year because it blew up. Her contribution to anxiety awareness has helped millions of people.
#3: Ace Trumpets, by Clipse (May) - After a 15-year hiatus, the legendary duo of Pusha T and Malice “disappeared and reappeared without a voila." What helped inspire the reconnection was the brothers’ father, a church deacon, who gave Malice his blessing to rap again, days before passing away.
Music will always bring us together, and as we look forward to rocking to the hits coming our way in 2026, let’s also remember what made 2025 a great year for Black music.
